How do Lobsters Grow?

Abraham Twerski made a great comparison.  How do lobsters grow?  The lobster is mostly a soft creature with a very hard exoskeleton which is static. As the lobster grows the exoskeleton becomes very restrictive creating pressure and preventing any further growth.  The lobster will then seek shelter, break free from his exoskeleton and produce another one.  Eventually, the lobster gets too big for this new exoskeleton and repeated this process.

The moral of this story is that the feeling of uncomfortableness (stress) forces us to change.

Now take the quick fix, pill-popping fascination, electronic addicted society we have become.   This is all designed to remove or distract us from the uncomfortableness (stress).  This ends up removing the trigger, preventing us from casting off our shell.

Times of stress are signals for growth, so let us use adversity properly and shed our shell to grow into more.
